Hi, I’m Mike, the founder of We Are Mentality.
I started this organisation for one main reason – I wanted to help guys all over the world feel better about themselves, and to have the answers ready to help them do so. You know as well as I do that men are notorious for not speaking about their feelings. Suffering in silence and just ‘getting on with it’ has been their mantra for decades. Thankfully that is slowly changing, but not quickly enough. I wanted to help speed that up.
Having suffered from depression and anxiety myself and gone through many challenges in my life and come out the other side, I discovered that helping others was my passion. I knew that if I had some form of roadmap to guide me, things may have been a bit easier. Of course, speaking with a therapist certainly helped. But sometimes you want to hear solutions from someone who has been through it and can give that extra helping hand.
I grew up in London, and knew I had depression at a young age when things just didn’t seem to ‘click’ the way they should, and I wasn’t feeling happy or optimistic about the future. My dream for many years was to join the police, which I did in 2008. After a complete change of heart (amongst many other things) and new opportunities on the horizon, I decided to leave 14 and a half years later, in 2022. I started my own company and suffered other disappointing times, but kept the faith. One day I stumbled across this idea for a business which may well change my life, and hopefully many others.
On a more personal level, I’m very much an introvert! I believe, however, that stepping out of my comfort zone and trying new things is the only way to live life properly. I’m an avid gamer, writer, football fan (depending on how my team are doing) and self-confessed rocker and metalhead. Oh, and a bit of a geek. Like, Lord of the Rings and Star Wars levels of geekiness. I enjoy going hiking and exploring new places, and one of my many ambitions is to ride Route 66 in the USA on a motorcycle.
I have come across some truly wonderful people, and many of them want to assist in my journey of helping men with their struggles. I hope, with their knowledge and experience, you can achieve everything you set out to do, and live a life worth living.
Stay Strong.
